Welcome Home: Exploring our Home of Faith in God and Community
(June 4–July 2nd) What does it mean to find our home in God? In a community of faith? "Home" means different things to different people. For some of us, "home" fills us with warm and comfortable feelings. But for others, "home" evokes some painful memories. Time and time again, Scripture suggests that we can find "home" in our relationship with God, and that God actually make God's home among us. Moreover, as we build a community of faith, we remember that, just as God calls us all children, we become a family together. In God's family, all are welcome, and there is always room at the table. |
Reclaiming Sabbath: The Sacred Art of Saying "No" (July 9–Aug. 6th)
Sabbath is a concept that Christians don't often think about these days. In our hustle-and-bustle culture, the notion of "Sabbath keeping" seems out of date and irrelevant anyway. But what if this idea, that has its genesis in the ancient roots of our faith, might transform our lives so that we—and others—might be able to flourish? This series will explore the biblical concept of Sabbath and why a regular rhythm of life-giving rest is so vital and even revolutionary for us all. |
Wisdom of the Ancients (Aug. 13–Sept. 3rd)
In this sermon series, we will explore some of the wisdom texts of the Hebrew Scriptures: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs. Surely these ancient, dusty texts have nothing worthwhile to say to us today . . . or do they? Perhaps the wisdom of these texts is of a timeless sort, that speaks across the ages to those who have ears to hear even now. We hope you'll join us as we wrestle with these texts together! |
