Is it possible that Scripture can speak to us in new and different ways at different points in our lives? For those of us who heard these "children's stories of the Bible" in Sunday school or Vacation Bible School, our teachers inevitably focused on certain aspects of these stories that might speak meaningfully to our younger selves. But when we go back and re-read them, we are inevitably surprised that these stories aren’t really “children’s stories” at all! Many of them are filled with sex and violence, and would appropriately carry a PG-13 or R rating if made into movies! And most of them have details that are left out (and wisely so) when shared with younger children.

But perhaps more importantly, when we go back and re-read these texts, what we will inevitably discover is that all of them have profound messages about what it means to be human, what it means to be flawed, and what it means to be in relationship with God.

Join us for this sermon series as we re-visit timeless children’s stories from Scripture! After a hard pandemic year, we hope to have fun with this summer series, as we dig into these texts that are familiar to so many of us—although our hunch is that we’ll find that we don’t remember them as clearly as we think we do!

Starts Sunday, May 30th, 2021. Join us at 11am for worship!

Bulletin Covers: We are having children draw our bulletin covers each week for this series. They look great so far! We would love for a child in your life to contribute one (you don't have to be a church member). You can find out more information and sign up here.
