Hot Takes on the Bible: Scripture's "Hottest" Topics
(May 31–June 28th) This sermon series deals with some of Scripture's "hottest" topics! We confess that we don't talk about Hell, Satan, the Rapture, and some other things very regularly at Williamsburg Baptist. And yet we recognize that some of our members and guests may come from backgrounds where these were common topics. Or you may have questions or just wonder what your pastors think! We're excited to tackle some of these challenging topics in this series. We'll dig into the Bible to see what Scripture DOES and DOES NOT say about each of these. We'll clear up some myths. And we'll try to find some meaning and relevance for our lives today! We hope you'll join us for this hot series as we kick off the summer season together. Tentative Schedule: May 31 - The Rapture June 7 - Sin June 14 - The Antichrist June 21 - Hell June 28 - Satan |

Rediscovering Lost Women of the Bible
(July 5th–August 2nd) Most (if not all) of Scripture was written by men. It is shaped by patriarchal lenses in a deeply patriarchal world. As a result, women are often minimized, marginalized, or simply overlooked in many biblical stories. Biblical scholars often try to recapture women's perspectives in Scripture. Yet even then we tend to focus on some of the most prominent women in the Bible: Mary the mother of Jesus; Eve; Ruth and Esther; and Mary Magdalene, for example. But there are many other women in Scripture that we often forget—or have never even heard of! This series will focus on some interesting and stories of women in Scripture. We'll consider who these women were, reread their stories (or read them for the first time!), and wonder together what their stories have to say to us today, as we seek to live lives of faith! Hope you'll make plans to join us! Tentative Schedule: July 5 - Hagar (Gen 21:8–21) July 12 - The daughters of Zelophehad (Numbers 27:1–11) July 19 - Deborah and Jael (Judges 4:1–24) July 26 - Jezebel (1 Kings 21:1–16) August 2 - Orpah (Ruth 1:1–18) |

Everyday Spirituality (Not just for Sundays!)
(August 9–September 6th) For some people, religion and faith are reserved for Sundays between the hours of 11am and noon. But when we commit to following the way of Jesus, we really believe that this results in a radically transformed way of living and being in the world. It doesn't just impact whether or not we wake up on Sunday mornings to attend church! In this series we'll consider how our faith impacts our everyday practices of spirituality. What does it mean to be a spiritual person in today's world? How might our faith and sense of spirituality shape our relationships with friends? In what ways is food spiritual? How about sabbath and work? And—is there anything spiritual about sex and sexuality? We hope you'll make plans to join us as we consider spirituality in our everyday lives! Tentative Schedule: August 9 - Spirituality and Friendship August 16 - Spirituality and Food August 23 - Spirituality and Sabbath August 30 - Spirituality and Work Sept 6 - Spirituality and Sexual Ethics |
